We are seeking to appoint a Postdoctoral Research Associate to join Professor Rob Klose’s research group (www.kloselab.co.uk) to study how the Polycomb chromatin modifying system represses gene expression. You will study this fundamental process using genome-wide CRISPR/Cas9–based genetic screening approaches. This will rely on the use of unique cell systems developed in the Klose lab to unbiasedly identify the pathways and factors that define how the Polyomb repressive systems regulate epigenetic chromatin states and repress gene expression.

Applicants should hold a PhD/DPhil, or be near completion of a PhD/DPhil in a relevant subject area. You will have a strong background in, or the desire use, CRISPR/Cas9-based genome-wide screening approaches to dissect the molecular processes that underpin Polycomb mediated gene repression. You will have the capacity to think critically and be able to formulate new ideas, together with the ability to work both independently and as part of a team in order to make new discoveries and to drive the research to publication. You will have exceptional organisational, communication and multitasking skills and have a keen interest in chromatin biology, epigenetics and transcription. Ideally, you will have experience in: mammalian cell culture, FACS analysis, production of viral CRISPR/Cas9 guide libraries for genome-wide screens, genetic screening, analysis of data from genome wide screens, although training in some of these areas will be available.

This full-time fixed-term post is funded by the ERC for up to 2.5 years in the first instance and is based at the Department of Biochemistry, South Parks Road, Oxford.

The starting salary offered will be based on qualifications and relevant skills acquired and will also be determined by the funding available.
